Default CVT (continuously variable transmission)

I am always reading the ION and VUE forums and keep reading about issues with the VUE in FWD or AWD that some have.

What are other cars that we know of that have / had CVT available and how reliable is / was it in the vehicle? It can be sold in the USA or anywhere else on the globe.

Here is what I know of:

Subaru Justy, MY 89 to 93, prone to problems.
Toyota Prius
Honda Civic Hybrid

I believe some late model Audi's have them.

Honda Civix HX (Sorry Piney, wrong letters) - No known problems. Underpowered car.
Subaru Justy ECVT - Complete, utter, and total failure. Electronics couldn't handle the processing to make it work. Neat car when they did work.
Nissan Murano - Too new to tell.
Audi A4 - Too new to tell. Most robust design that I know of.
Honda Insight - No known problems. Makes the car acutally fun - car too small to be useful for anything.
Toyota Prius - No known problems.
Honda Civic hybrid - Too new to tell.
Mini Cooper (base model). Currently having major softwere issues according to the mini forums.
There was an attempt in the 60's that utilized a rubber belt - it didn't catch on, and I don't remember the name of the car. It was sold in Europe only.

Of course the Saturn VUE and ION. GM seems to be getting the bugs out of 'em.

Ahhh - I didn't do a google search to confirm it first and see what happens. Oh well, if I were playing baseball, I'd be in the Hall of Fame with that solid .500

Automobile magazine named Audi's CVT the 'new technology of the year' or something like that last year. Kind of a stupid idea if you ask me, the primary reason being that there is very little torque transfer from the engine to the wheels with a big rubber band in the middle.

LOL. I was waiting for someone to say that. That car was a weird one. Just as fast as the manual. Revs to 4500, then sits there as long as you have your foot down.

Audi's cvt uses chains.

The strongest CVT at production right now is the one nissan has, it can handle 286lb ft of torque.
