Default Changing Serpentine Belt

I will be changing the belt on my 04 2.2 in the next few weeks. It has 50k miles on it and this is just part of my personal maintenance schedule. It looks like it is going to be a real PITA because of the tight spaces. Any suggestions on making it easier? Does the inner fender liner come off? Thanks for any help.

I had to buy a serpentine belt tool because there isn't enough room to get socket in there. Good luck with it.

Use a jack under the engine, remove the air box and the engine mount. Really easy once you do that. Takes maybe a half hour in a driveway. Hope it helps!

I normally go at it from under the car. Remove what ever plastic shileds you need to to get to the tensioner. A 3/8 drive swing arm fits into the tensioner to release the belt tension.

I know what you are saying. There is NO clearance between the fender liner and the tensioner for a 3/8" ratchet. I tried. You would have to buy a serpentine belt tool. I may just have it changed since I've got enough "Used Once" tools in my garage.

Ok since i've done this like 3 times here ya go.

Get 3/8" breaker bar from napa, jack up car, take off plastic covering crap, put breaker bar into tensioner, pull, take belt off idle pulley, remove belt.

I pulled off the airbox and plastic fender liner. Rented the long tensioner tool from Autozone but was unable to use it because it was too long from both the top and bottom. After taking the top motor mount off I found that if you pry on the engine carefully with a piece of wood the engine moves just enough to get your 3/8in drive ratchet with a short piece of pipe on it. Done Thanks for the replies
