2002 vue dash / power steering issue FYI
Driving and suddenly the dash lights flicker and tach and speedo needles bounce a bit.
next driving and car stalls. starts and runs 1 to 2 seconds and stalls
no dash lights or instruments and no power steering.
Finally car starts and stays running to get home but security light and check enging light and cat failure light on and no power steering. Outside lights work and radio light and heater fan works.
Problem:found the fuse in the black plastic weather proof pack had a slightly loose nut. This is not the main fuse block but if you find the red wire that comes from the positive battery cable to the fuse block assembly look where the wire bolts to the fuse block. There is a second wire under it that almost looks like a fuseable link. That wire goes to the single hi current fuse I mention above. The black plastic box clips to a steel line between the firewall and underhood fuse block assembly. From that box you see a red wire going into the firewall approximately behined the ign module [4 cyl eng]. After I cleaned the connections in the black plastic fuse protector cover and tightened the two small nuts that hold the wires to the fuse the check lights went off and the dash went back to normal with no reoccurance of the issue.
I suspect the power steering is electric assist built in the colum somewhere since that problem was solved as well.
