Default 99 sw2 blows body fuse

Not sure what causes it but the body fuse in the wagon blows, I don't usually notice it when it happens. Rarely lock the car or open tail gate but when I do I notice it. Last time it happened I replaced and watched for better than a week with no issues so I forgot to keep watching.
Have replaced the lock witches with know working units but alas it did not fix.
Locks are not a big issue but would like the tailgate to work without replacing a fuse.
Is there a way to open the tailgate without power or move to a different circuit?
Ideas on where to start tracing the issue?

Sorry to hear about your fuse problem.

Can you manually unlock your liftgate with a key, or is that action messed up?

I was wondering if you have a common problem on SWs -- the cheesy electronic latch actuator has crapped out. The usual symptoms:
1) When you pull the switch next to the driver's seat or activate the keyfob, the liftgate unlatches, but then you can't get it to reliably lock again -- the latch is stuck open.
2) The latch makes a brief noise but then nada. You might have to put your ear to the inside of the liftgate and use your keyfob to pick up on this. In this case, one of the plastic gears on the actuator may have crapped out and the little motor is drawing amps/fuse blowing.

If you take the interior plastic trim off the liftgate, you can get to the latch and see what's going on. If the actuator is jacked, you can remove it and go to just using the key until you find another mediocre one at a junkyard.

Let us know what you find.

IFF your '99 electric is like my 2000SW... there are Two primary grounds for the body/InPanel:
1.) drivers side strut tower (under hood)
2.) for instruments & console, on the drivers side 'H' bracket which supports INPanel fuse block, a very small screw-nut secures an eyelet to the 'erector set' type goal post / H-bracket leg.
OTHERS follow...
3.) under front seat there's a transverse bulkhead/rib that has a splice pak beneath the carpet
4.) for the rear wiper/defrost & illumination... there is rear splice pak aft of the drivers side Rear strut tower; under the large lateral trim piece along the interior Side of the luggage compartment. Screw tapped into body within 6" of aft junction of inner fender, and rear section corner. On mine this was pristine clean, but sometimes water collects that area.
5.) the accelerometer is grounded close to the rear handbrake lever pivot atop the central strength tube which divides car left/right side. Mine was clean, but loose fastening. This might affect the security system, etc. Again, lift the carpet a bit. I'm confused now if need lift off the console, as this probably beneath (or just behind) the aft end of console.

I'm impressed with the wire harnesses in both my '97 & 2000 SWs; respond well to cleaner grounds.

OK sorry for the lapse of time. My daughters have had the car for the last two weeks. They reported no problems with anything. I did check the rear latch everything looks good no visible wear or exposed wire it has been working good for me . Children used the remote key-less constantly with no issues.
I got it back yesterday set off the alarm because I didn't know the daughter had locked the door. Then she thought it was funny and locked it at the restaurant. Power locks stopped working after the second time. Checked the fuse it was fine. bummed but drove home. Twice on the way home the low beam headlights turned off, the DLR came on immediately. Switching to high beams worked fine the headlights came back on, stayed on for awhile then it happened again on the way home. 2.5 hour drive. Headlights worked for the 15 minute drive this AM.
So now I sit with no power locks, dome light, key-less. As well as low beam headlights I don't trust now.
Ideas where to start? Is there something in the UHJB I should be looking for? one of those 30 amp fuses maybe?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Not sure if related but the key chime goes on whether the key is in the cylinder or not. Many times of turning the key to get it to stop.
