Default Power Loss Shifting / Rlling When In a gear

Ok don't know if these two are related but, first my 97SL1 standard would end up in the street in the morning even though I parked it in my driveway which has a slight incline. What could be the cause ? Inwould always leave it in 2nd gear no emergency brake engaged
Secondly, I recently started noticing loss of power when putting it from 2nd to 3rd to 4th it would have a slight bucking to it and eventually when I had enough speed 5th which it seemed by then to have adequate speed 75-80 mph and no slight bucking. What 's up ? Any suggestions, hints would be appreciated.

Always leave the car in 1st or Reverse gears when you park it. Also, pull up on the parking brake if it works.

The car rolled down the driveway because you refuse to use the parking brake on any non flat surface. Even leaving a car with manual xmission, the engine turns over ever so slowly despite engine compression. Either start using the parking brake or find your car creeping down hill.

Car mileage? A brief history of all maintenance and parts replaced? A compression test and reading about egr valves to use a temporary blocking basket may help troubleshoot one.

1st gear for front end up, reverse for back end up. Any other gear for finding the car in the road later in the day/night.

Loss of power may be to do with your parking style forcing the engine to rotate the wrong way...

The proper way to fix a S-Series automatic is to replace it with a 5spd O:)

Yes, use your hand brake. Don't put it on a little bit either or you might drive away with it still on.
