Default Roof rail replacement warranty claim denied

Roof rails are fading and car is under warranty. Took it to the dealer and it falls under normal wear and tear apparently. Is that for real?

Are they faded too badly for using back to black or something similar to restore? Would seem like a lot less fuss but it does seem like bumper to bumper would cover if still in effect..

You might want to check a different dealer -- preferably one that used to be a Saturn dealer. Without pictures it would be hard to say, but plenty of people here have had them replaced while under warranty. Mine are finally starting to discolour (probably because my car spends its downtime underground shielded from the sun), but my bumper-to-bumper expired nearly 100,000 kms ago.

Mine are fading also but I have a bike rack on the car and don't feel like taking it off to get them repainted. If I do end up taking the roof rack off I will just plasti-dip them.

Mine were replaced 2 weeks ago by my local Chev dealer under warranty.
No issues what so ever.

These rails look so good when they are all nice and shiney. I dont even remember them looking like that.

this was deff not a "ware and tear" Man I wish Saturn was around...I donno about you but the customer service was one of the reasons I purchased my Astra. GM dealerships are junk.

Take it to another dealer, I'm pretty sure there was a bulletin around because after they replaced mine, I never had an issue. Or you could just buy the new ones for $30-40.

if they were $40 i may not have put in a warranty claim. they were a lot more than that.

Did you get them replaced under bumper to bumper? I store my car in a garage 99% of the times and my roof rails are starting to fade...

NO this is not real. Because the company gave u warranty for that. You have consumer rights so in case of denying there warranty you can sue them. But this is not the company policy they modified it if u contact them. The dealer telling a lie to u for further u can call them

I had mine replaced right after purchase, and they're starting to pit again. I'm well out of warranty now. I'm just going to paint them body color.

Anyone have a copy of this TSB? I'm in Canada so will have to deal with GM Canada.

That dealer stinks. I agree with the others who said try another dealer. I had mine replaced right after purchase on warranty -- no questions asked.
