Doubtful as '96 is gen 1 and '00 is gen 3. Might work if you find a '97 which is gen 2 (the 2drs change gen different than the 4dr's).

Or you can save yourself the effort and just swap the pump module as that's the only place the fuel goes in & out...

I'm curious because I'm swapping a 96 motor into a 2000 car. Since the 96 has fuel return and the 2000 doesn't. I'm trying to find a way to make it happen. Seems the most logical way is to swap tanks. So I can swap lines as well.

98-02 fuel tanks are slightly smaller than 91-97 and seem to be a different shape based on the part diagram. It is kind of hard to tell from 2 different angles though

They do look a little different in shape. But looks like it might fit. If I could get a cheap on I'd try to install it

This is the only thing, other than the filler neck & vent pipes, that let gas into/out of the tank. This is all you need to swap.

Well the lines on my '97SW were routed differently along the body-pan
than on my 2000SW, a bit different in the engine compartment... and of course the fuel filter on the '97 was inside the front wheel, while on the 2000 it is just ahead of the fuel tank under the body pan.
