Removed and replaced my right suspension arm/ ball joint.
the back bolt on the sub frame turned OK, so no problem there. It's all back together now. Now I have to remove and replace both front sway bar bushings. I'm soaking the bolts with Kroil as the Kroil worked really well on the ball joint replacement. Tomorrow I'll use my air impact wrench to rattle the 15MM bolts to see if I can get movement. I do not want to break these off. |

I ordered EBC front rotors and a set of Hawk HPS pads. Hoping this set will serve me well and put up with my mildly aggressive driving style without over heating and warping within 4-6 months

Great! For sure let us know how you like them. I've been wondering about how much better performance they are for our cars.

Installed both front sway bar bushings yesterday. Used the Energy Suspension polyurethane 18.5101G in black. Had to go to the auto parts store to buy a 15 MM deep 6 point impact socket as the cheap one I had split from the torque i put on it. Since I cannot find my impact gun, I just used a 1/2" breaker bar after the application of Kroil the day before and applied anti seize to the threads of the bolts. The bushings came with a small tube of thick silicone grease to apply inside the bushing. All went well until I forgot to remove the tool I used to pry the sway bar away from the sub frame to insert the bushing. I had to loosen the just tightened bolts to get it out.. Doh!

Ultra-Detailed the '98 SC2 Red Hot. Inside & out.
Also took the professional buffer to some scratches (from the previous owner of course) on the back bumper below the trunk lid. Not like I like the Red Hot to glow or anything......... ![]() ![]() ![]()

While pulling out of the garage after an oil change, the driver's side mirror on my sister's 02 SL2 got into a fight with a tree and lost horribly.
I replaced that mirror assembly today. ![]()

Yesterday I replaced the "dog-bone" motor mounts with cheapie parts from eBay. Ugh, not the wisest decision. They look like flat metal wrapped into a dog-bone shape. The factory mounts were all sculpted with gussets and stuff for strength. To make things worse, the replacement mounts didn't even fix all of the jerking/rocking motion that happens in 1st sometimes. It's maybe 30% better. Perhaps I'll see about fitting poly bushings into the old ones in the future. Should have saved my $25 to go towards that. Live and learn.
Oh, and then I changed the oil! |

I went to check the spark plugs today and there was oil in all 4 wells! The worst was the cylinder 2 spark plug well, which had a fully submerged spark plug. My uncle noticed that the edges of the valve cover looked bad about two weeks ago but I haven't had the funds to replace the gasket yet. I last checked about a week ago and all of the wells were bone dry. Needless to say, I freed up the funds for a gasket, but it won't be in until about Friday. I cleaned off the plug wires very well. As far as I can tell, I won't need to replace the wires. The plugs themselves will all be replaced when I change out the gasket.

Started the process of replacing the right door rear applique.
I was just wondering how I was going to paint the piece when one showed up on e bay. olde one chipped last winter ![]() New one peeling back the wrapper to show that shine-e goodness ![]() All good things come from Canada ![]() I am not sure how many of these remain. Today I had to push my car backwards into a parking spot since reverse has left the building, I mean car....
We had just finished a 4 hour drive from Detroit, and we were in Chicago last weekend. Love that city, had a great time! The car did really well in all forward gears at least ![]() I'm debating whether I should fix the transmission, or just get another S-Series. I keep wishing the car was a 5 speed anyways! Back to scanning CL for deals.... ![]() Last edited by SLfun; 06-17-2015 at 09:52 PM. Reason: spelling error |
