Default 2001 LW300 - Bad BCM?

I'm trying to fix a car for a widow who goes to my church. Obviously money is an issue and I'm trying to save her from having to take it to the Saturn dealer.

The problems:
Power locks do not work - both from the buttons on the door and the remote
Rear Defrost does not work
Dash lights/dimmer do not work
Instrument cluster gauges do not work
The solenoid that allows the driver to shift from park with the brake pedal depressed is not working. We had to open up the console so she can manually override it to even drive.

I'm not sure if all the problems happened exactly at once, but they certainly all started at least close together.

I checked all the fuses and don't see any problems there. There is a "dimmer" and a "defog led" fuse in the left instrument fuse panel, both of which had no power to them. But when I pulled the fuse panel and looked at the back side, both of these fuses have a dead spot (no wire from the factory) on one side. So I assume that they are dead on purpose.

One time after I disconnected and reconnected the battery, the door locks did work for just a minute before quitting again.

Is this likely a bad BCM? I really don't know where else to look. Any help and advice will be appreciated.

Also, if it is a bad BCM, is this something that I can change myself or will it need to go to a dealer for programming? I saw another thread where it seemed others paid around $500 to have it replaced. I don't mind the labor, but might be lost on the programming.

REWARD EXCELLENCE!
