Default A DexIII Compatible Dexron-VI?

According to RockAuto.com - This is backward compatible with DexIII. (perhaps because it is Full-Synthetic?)

Any Thoughts?

Would you try it?

Professional|1 Quart; Dexron VI; Full Synthetic
ACDelco DEXRON-VI provides more consistent shift performance, even in extreme conditions, and degrades less over time. DEXRON-VI Automatic helps automatic transmissions last longer and perform better. It is suitable for use in vehicles that specify the following requirements: fully licensed and approved by GM, recommended for use in GM transmissions model year 2006 and newer calling for DEXRON-VI Automatic Transmission Fluid (replaces DEXRON-III and DEXRON-II(E) or recommended for any other vehicle manufacturer that calls for DEXRON-VI, III or II(E). ACDelco DEXRON-VI Automatic Transmission Fluid is not for use in CVT (Continuously Variable Transmissions) or DCT (Dual Clutch Transmissions) that require specialized fluids.

Backward compatible with previous DEXRON automatic transmission fluids and can be used as a much-improved replacement for older vehicles/transmissions originally using previous DEXRON fluids.
Improved performance over previous DEXRON fluids in friction durability, viscosity stability, aeration and foam control and oxidation resistance.
Potential to enable improved fuel economy and longer transmission life.
Provides for extended drain intervals.

WARNING: This product can expose you to chemicals including Ethyl Acrylate (CASRN 140-88-5) which is known to the State of California to cause cancer. For more information go to www.P65Warnings.ca.gov

That's the same verbiage all Dex VI fluids carry - backwards compatible from 2006 on.

They used to have fine print on the back, saying not suitable for certain transmissions (including our Saturns).

I wouldn't use it either

For transmissions that actually require the special characteristic's of Dex III...anything else isn't a viable substitute (any quality Dex VI producer mentions Saturn or the S-Series specifically as not compatible).

The 5spd's could probably get away with Dex VI but it would likely wreck havoc with the syncro rings. The automatic would feel like it's slipping more than normal and set all kinds of codes...too low viscosity.

Yep! Now I remember that ‘Saturn Only’ clause from other transmission fluid discussions. Which is why I only use plain old DexIII (Valvoline) for my last and only two driveway transmission fluid changes every 30,000 miles. ...You can’t beat the people and advice you get here.

The GM TSB for Dexron-VI specifically states to NOT use it in any Saturn S-Series vehicle.

Only use this fluid if you hate your transmission and like doing transmission swaps in your garage or driveway.
