Default Code p0507 in warm weather

Another warm day in Chicago.

Again I’m getting p0507 (Idle Control System RPM High). It only happens on really warm days.

My RPM looks normal – about 700 in “D”.

What is it – bad Idle Control Motor ? Old antifreeze ? Coolant Temp. Sensor ?

Anybody, please advise....

Try cleaning your throttle body.

Thanks for reply

I did clean Throttle Plate also I removed and cleaned the IAC motor (was very dirty). That improved thinks a little.

Still have rough idle in "D"when hot and also I noticed "puff-puff" sound from exaust pipe. Is that a misfire ?

Air filter is clean, spark plugs are 1 year old, gas milage is OK - 31 MPG....

Improved things...Does that mean it fixed your high idle problem and now you just have a rough idle? If so, it could be just about anything. ECTS if it hasn't been done, is a prime candidate. Sticking EGR maybe...plugs, wires, dirty coil towers and/or corroded back on the DIS module.

I recently replaced TPS sensor – that fixed intermittent high idle problem : RPM used to jump up to 1800-2000 till I restart the engine…

Now Idle is smooth when cold. As the engine warms up it runs rough – I can see it on tachometer…

I did not yet replace ECTS. I did removed and cleaned EGR valve (also replaced the gasket).

I also checked resistance for each ignition wire – 2500..3000 Om… I pulled the boots and checked sparks to grounded surface - look strong...

“…corroded back on the DIS module…” – I’ll take that off today and check. Do I have to apply any grease to the bottom ?
