Just picked up another Beetle to throw more money and time at..........Towed it to it's new home today.

Wow that quite impressive. Popp I've noticed you are one of the few RL owners doing the whole towing thing. How's the RL been handling towing these items? Did the exhaust upgrade produce any preceived power increases? Anyways I'm considering towing a boat that weighs say 2500-2700 pounds every once in a while. Do you think I'm pushin it?

no problems at all. The exhaust added about 8-10 horses. The K&N intake kit added 5-10 Horses. If your going to tow that much in the summer and its pretty hot, I'd add a bigger tranny cooler.

popp, did you get the 2004-2005MY Vue Red Line specific hitch, or modify your bumper?

I notched the bumper. (Pics in My album) I got a class 3, the modified one is a class 2. I need to pull more weight and a welded class 2 is not secure enough for my piece of mind.

Hello.

Hey, you are towing w/ your RL?!?!

I have not bought one yet, but will soon.
That is one reason I have been a bit hesitant.
I only want to tow my 500lb. trailer with my 475 lb. cycle (Buell m2).

I have been told by Saturn you should and cannot tow because of the suspension and transmission cooling.

How has your experience been with towing?

no problems. I have also put in a k&n CIA, magnaflow exhaust, and added a six inch "hose" which brings cold air directly to the filter (not really neede but helps). If you'll be towing in hot climates and up lots of hills, i'd also suggest tranny cooler. The most i've towed so far is about 2500lbs with no problems. You can see some pics of it in my album.......
