Engine cradle swaps, from this thread.

Per Low Saturn (paraphrased):
Quote:
1994 and up engine cradles all swap interchangeably.
Sedan, wagon, coupe, SOHC, DOHC, auto, and manual cradles are all the same.

For 1991-1993.
1991, the mount provisions are different than other years.
1992/1993 puts the radiator in a different position.
You could use a 92/93 cradle in a later year car if you buy a 91-93 radiator.

Default Re: S-Series Swap Guide

I am in the middle of changing out an engine in my 99' SC2. I am trying to get the replacement engine prepared to put into the car. I'd like to get the engine in today but am having a tough time getting a hold of a Haynes manual (Library and stores closed due to snow storms in our area) and therefore don't know the bolt tightening torque specs on some of the parts. I am wondering if anyone would happen to know this information and can help me with it? Here is a list of what I need the torque specs on:

-Flywheel bolts
-Clutch Pressure Plate bolts
-Transmission bell housing to Engine bolts (2 upper and 2 lower)
-Bracket (located on bottom) from engine to transmission. 4 bolts into engine and 2 into the trans.
-Transmission mounts (2 upper and 1 lower)
-Engine mounts (5 upper and 1 lower)

Thanks for any help you can give me.

...
92 SL1: 275,000 miles - May it RIP.
98 SC2: 105,000 miles
99 SC2: 153,000 miles

Gotta love them!

Only 3rd generation steering wheel will work when you have cruise. The cruise was relocated from a switch near the windshield wiper switch on the 1st and 2nd gens to thumb buttons on the wheel. On the 1st and 1nd gen wheel the thumb buttons were the horn

All S-series springs are the same and transfer through out the production years.

Front springs are no the same as rear springs though. Different diameters

There most likely the same. Sometimes anything for the coupe is classified as a different number. Link to the site you found this?

Do you need Springs? I've got a set of Factory Springs from a 2002 SC1 in my basement that had 40 or 50 thousand miles on them.

Anyone know if the power window console switch changed over the years. I have a 99 SL2 and I found an earlier version at the junkyard that looks good.

'99 is a 2nd generation interior. '95-'99 S-series with power windows will work.

Dizzy Re: S-Series Swap Guide

Ok I have a question. I'm swapping a blown 99 block for a pristine 96 with about 60-70k on it. I noticed that the 99 pistons had a valve relief on one side, and the 96 pistons are dished. obviously this is going to change the compression ratio, but what I'm really worried about is valve interference. Has anyone ever run into this? If all else fails, I'll have to preassemble the head and check the valve clearance with clay. Thanks in advance, Aaron.

Rear bumper covers interchange for all 2nd gen sedans? What about from a '96 to an '01-02 SLx? My '96 SL2 needs one.

What about starters? Again, for my '96 auto.

I'm headed to the junkyard tomorrow and it would be nice to get these things.
