Default Re: 2005 FWD Rear Disc Conversion

Does anyone know if there is an option for the awd vues? My subframe rusted and cracked so I may as well do the conversion if I need to replace it.

Why are axle tips needed? Is it for the wheel studs? Did the equinox only have rear discs in AWD models?

Don't understand need for the tips on my base setup since the stock hubs are wide open in back. I figure the hole is for awd...

Sorry havent been on here for awhile.
The Axle tips are needed for the Hub Bearings to last. Without the Axle Tips bearing will not last.
Saturn Stock Axle tips are wider than the Equinox. You can't use the the saturn stock axle tips they're wider..

2007-2009 Equinox FWD/ AWD both came with REAR DIsc..

Will this modification work with the Vue's ABS system?

I think the 2007+ Equinox and 2008+ Vue used a different ABS system.

Also will the 2002-2007 Vue rear wheel bearing/hub bolt onto the Equinox knuckle?

Hello,
I recently came across your post regarding the rear drum to disk brake conversion. I know that was a long time ago but I do have a few questions about it.
First, I see from the post that I will need the e-brake cables. I was wondering if you meant the WHOLE cable including from where the brake is to where the handle is or did you mean just a part of the line?
Second, did you just unbolt the regular brake line from where the brake line meets the brake hose and then bold the new one on or did you replace the entire brake line with the new one?
Thanks so much.

I think this is a good upgrade. When my rears start grinding in doin it.
Donít wait for that! Itíll never happen. Mine has 200,000 on it, rear brakes never replaced. The braking feel is much better and doesnít nose dive like before under normal braking. With my wife 19Ē wheels the abs would not engage in dry weather.

Get the whole cable. And the brake line that is attached to the caliper will go all the way to the frame where the old flex line meets the hard line.
