Was wondering if you ever made any more progress on this project? I’m currently trying to retrofit projectors myself into my 97. I have a set of 2nd gen headlights currently taken apart and I’m trying to sand down the flutes to make them clear. I may go with 3rd gen headlights as a second option if sanding doesn’t go well. Fitment doesn’t look too bad in photos, but that may change in person.

@ HIIS:
> When was that? Probably 2016, maybe 2017. The lenses which 'yellow' are expensive, higher quality. I think they are specified because the material is softer, less likely to cause lacerations in accidents. Many aftermarket lamps now use the stuff that does not yellow. Having much experience with GLASS lenses, i was not concerned with laceration risk. I think one can find this stuff in aftermarket stores, or online. The non-yellowing lenses have a slight color/hue that is maybe bluish, sort of like the look of austenitic stainless steels as 302,304,316. As i said , I just bought the cheaper aftermarket lamps, rather than the insurance-company certified variety.... $40 vs $70. |
