Default tensioner pully noise

Hi all! I have a 2000 ls2. The tensioner is squeaking. I think its' a bearing. Can you replace just the bearing on this item. The belt has good tension so I know the spring is in good shape. I read you can replace the bearing on other saturns but this engine is different.

REWARD EXCELLENCE!

You can replace just the pulley / bearing. I suggest you replace the whole tensioner / pulley assembly. The whole assembly costs more but the labor is about the same. My experience with belt tensioners shows the spring / pivot assembly becomes stiff or just locks up, causing little or no tension on the belt. Squeek and Slip. Try Rockauto.com.

I have a 2000 LS witrh the 3.0. Sounds to me like I have a tensioner bearing going. I think there are 2 pulleys. One is the tensioner and one that is just a non adjustable pulley. I will have to pull the belt to otest, but wonder what the norm is here. Is it pretty common for one or the other to go bad or both? These both dealer items? 140k on the car. Thanks, Jim

There is one tensioner and that is it. The only other pulley that is on the front is the water pump. It is under the front engine mount. If the water pump pulley wobbles, you need to replace the pump. While in there, replace the timing belt, tensioner and idler pulleys.
