![]() My car has one.
![]() ![]() ![]() To display... 1. The radio must be ON (turn the volume all the way down so you can hear) 2. Hit MAIN so you're on the main page. 3. Hold down SETTINGS for about 5-6 seconds, until you hear a beep. 4. Press BC. You'll initially come up with the regular board computer screen. Continue hitting BC to step through the test mode screens (there's about 7 screens). I don't have the slightest idea what most of the other indications on the other pages are for. edit... It looks like "display" is the temp displayed on the screen (22C = 71.6F). Looking at the UK site, I guess the sensor temp is temperature without error correction from engine heat. To get out of test mode, repeat steps 2 and 3 (you must be on the main screen when you hold down SETTINGS, or it won't work). Found the basic instructions here. They took some tweaking before I got it to work on my car. ... ![]() Should'nt have to fiddle with 7 screens & myriad of menu options to find out what coolant temp is.

![]() Gauges should be easy to read and readily available to the driver without having to distract them. Information should be right there, not having to jump thru hoops and take your eyes off the road. Its bad enough manufacturers have removed voltage & oil pressure gauges & replaced them with idiot lights. ![]() What 's next: a gas guage that can be only read by checking your latest e-mail from On-Star? ![]() If it's penny pinching, then why did they give us "tire pressure monitors" instead? ... 93 SW2 96 SL2 01 SL2 02 L200 08 Astra Xe 07 Aura XR Complacency leads to mediocrity. ![]() Given the amount of electronics in this car, coolant temp should be a simple digital read out on the main gauge panel. If it can display what gear the transaxle is in, the coolant temp should be a piece of cake, since the system knows what the temp. is anyway. It would not take up much real estate on the instrument dash panel. Since this is such a driver's car, it is not penny pinching, it's bad engineering/design. Wonder if they were trying to copy BMW's iDrive?

![]() Thanks!! Good find. I'll have to play with this.
A software change is all that would be required for critical parameters to be displayed on the main page (oil pressure, coolant temp, Tire pressure, etc.....) and would save money since no additional hardware would be required (i.e. gauges). Obviously the computer is already processing the data, its just a matter of displaying it. ... 2008 Sky 5-speed triple black 2008 Astra 5-speed 3 door star silver, Leather, 18" wheels http://s282.photobucket.com/albums/kk266/BlackStar_1961/Astra/
