**Finally** cleaned the Throttle Body in mine............

I bet it's never been cleaned - caked black!

The gas pedal was super sticky too.

Nice & smooth now..........

If I had a hot mechanic girlfriend, i'd be very happy, too
(My wife would be a little pissed)

Today, I visited a U-pull junkyard. No idea this thing existed, didn't find it in the phone books (about 40 minutes away).

Only came away with a IAT connector and pigtail for the side marker light (mine was all corroded). Did get a replacement cupholder for the Caravan, though

the floor mat slid foward under my clutch pedal and made shifting very difficult, creating all worries about new shifter bushing or clutch, all to my realization i just had to tug the mat down a little lol.

Oil change today. Pennzoil Platinum 5W-30 synthetic with a Purolator Pure One filter. Previous oil change had also been PP/P1. I ran 5200 miles and sent a sample to Blackstone for analysis just to evaluate the internal condition of this engine. It has 115,000 miles on now (barely broke in), and it runs so sweet I want to make it last a long time.

Did a coolant flush to get rid of the dirty coolant which has been in there for god knows how long. I thought I broke the radiator petcock valve in the process, but turns out part of the valve just popped out and I was able to put it back in place.

I put all the rear plastic back on my SC1. Then I disassembled the left front to get access to the input shaft nut. I did not remove the strut, axle or knuckle to do this. I did drop the cradle an inch and remove the tranny mount. The nut seems tight after all that. Going to be ordering a SF valve body!

I ended up replacing the front brake pads on the 98 SL2 because it was making an intermittent scraping sound from the right front. The top caliper bolt broke off in the bracket when I was removing it. I tried getting it loose but it is frozen in there solid. So, I borrowed a caliper bracket from the 2000 SL2 that's in the process of getting it's engine replaced. I guess I will be off to the junkyard to find another one. I have 3 of these now in this condition. It always seems to be the right front. Has anyone had success getting a broken caliper bolt out of the bracket?

Same one that broke off on me.

I used a propane torch to heat up the bracket. I used a monkey/pipe wrench (8 or 10" wrench with teeth) for leverage and twisted it so that the pin would rotate, then rotated it at sort of at angle, so that it would slide a little out with each rotation.

Yesterday, I added some shiney things to my car. New $20 stainless steel muffler (thanks to tgferg67global for pointing out the rebate)

Geartooth wheels, $48 total found on craigslist. Doesn't look too bad on my 98, thought they would look better on an 1st gen coupe. Need to be refinished (one of these days ). Need new tires now.

Also, weird that my door skin doesn't match the rest of the car. I thought there was only one color silver for the 2nd gen, guess I was wrong. Got the fender and door skin at the same yard, didn;t look that closely when I bought them - fender is a little darker than the rest of the car, door skin is alot lighter.

Hi Everyone!

I picked up my 91 SL1 188,000 MI back in April and have done alot of little fixes here and there, I would like to thank everyone who has contributed, as I have found this forum to be very useful and friendly.

Today I am doing a MMO piston soak. I don't burn very much oil, maybe 3/4 quart every 3k, but looking into the spark plug hole, I can see alot of carbon buildup on the top of the piston. I'm hoping it will help responsiveness just a little more.
