When I'm hard on it: a quart a week, big-a## oil smoke if ya get on it when it's cold (not good), and still some when it's at op temp. 1 qt a week.

When I'm easy on it: Not much of either that I notice.

My recently purchased 95 SLone is using a quart every 400 miles with mostly highway driving. I will try the MMO or B-12 trick next week and hope that losens the rings up. Last tank got 37 mpg pretty good up 5mpg from the previous tank all that new stuff and cleaning the EGR valve did help

I used Lucas Oil Stabilizer and it worked fine for me... Just dump some in the crankcase. WHat's B-12?

Post Oil Consumption

On my 1999 SL w/ 50K on it, I haven't noticed any oil burning yet. But I am keeping an eye on it when I refuel just because of these forumns. Last thing I want is engine damage due to low oil.

My $0.02

Berryman B-12 comes in a 16 oz can at auto part stores. It's stronger than MMO and a really old product/company like MMO I think the can says since 1908?.

B-12 is for serverly neglected engines mine was needing a quart at each fuel stop.

So far consumption seems way down but with only 225 miles to early to tell yet.

I just flushed the engine and changed the oil....I am trying Mobil 1 0w-40w at 4.77 a quart I hope I don't use much at all in th 95 SL-1

The 2002 SL-1 I use the Mobil 1 5w-30w and it doesn't use a drop between changes.

After changing both engines oil it seems they both needed an extra 1/4 of a quart to top it off. So I either was shorted a bit from Mobil or you need more than 4 qts. at change with filter.

2000 SC2, 114K mi, burns 1 qt every 2500 miles. Just switched to Mobil 1. If that doesn't make a difference I'm going to try an MMO soak.

1 quart in 2500 is not all that bad try a little MMO in the Gas and crankcase oil I bet the Mobil 1 will make a difference if nothing else your mileage will go up and your Saturn will run better when it's cold.

No, 1 qt per 2500 isn't bad at all. I'm not terribly worried about it. Now that I think about it, a soak is likely to be a waste of time since my rings are probably articulating just fine.

0 oil consumption is what I have observed so far with my car.

It used to go thru a quart every 100 kilometers but....its cause the "licensed mechanic" at Crappy tire 1) replaced oil drain plug with wrong one and 2) overtightened/stripped bolt as well without telling me.

Promblem is now fixed and it consumes so little oil its not worth mentioning.
