a few more things..

1) the odometer light goes on and off. i dunno why. its not went off for awhile, though, but if it goes off anytime soon it'll be no big deal.

2) Even though I get good gas mileage, (33.33 mpg at last fill up) I think the gas hand falls too fast so there's something wrong there.

3) sunroof is screwed up. i'll get the pieces to fix the leak, but not everything to make it usable again.

Most of interior carpeting is in need of cleaning/replacement

Custom paint job on dash trim and door handles is peeling badly (will fix in summer)

CD player/tape deck (OEM Saturn) has cracks and chips in it.

Wipers are OEM and in BAD need of replacement (been on since 2000)

Spoiler needs paint job

Front air dam missing (will never replace)

I'm on my 7th (yes, 7th) radiator

Muffler mount is broken causing an occasional rattle

Idle rpm is 750 - 800 but rough

SES light is intermittent

Constant, but SLOW antifreeze leak which I cannot locate

Head is cracked (will replace in summer)

Smaller vaccuum line on TB is broken, patched up with 3/8 inch fuel line

Upper motor mount is shot beyond belief

Dash rattles at high speeds (80 - 90 mph)

Upper radiator hose is going

Custom speaker faceplates have 1 screw each, supposed to have 4 each.

Trunk leaks a little bit

Missing A/C condenser because running over a railroad track I couldn't see.

All 4 tires need replacing

Sometimes wipers work, sometimes they don't. Gotta bang fusebox to get them to work.

Burns oil (duh) about 1/2 quart every 250 miles.

Plugs and wires have been in since 2004.

Oil hasn't been changed in 5000 miles.

Need I go on??

EDIT: Rear bumper is messed up from being rear ended twice in the same week.

I've had the car since Feb 17th of 2004. It was in absolutely immaculate condition when I bought it from the dealer. I drive it like I stole it. It's been up on jackstands a lot lately. Running good right now but when summer hits......EVERYTHING is getting fixed, except the paint.

Oh yeah, drivers door squeaks when being opened in cold weather

Rear window tint fell off on its own

Both rear quarter windows have been busted (got broken into twice). They have since been replaced.

All 4 wind vents fell off.

Bad financial situation and sub-zero PA winter temperatures. I don't really drive it that much.... until summer.

EDIT: Actually, tommorrow is payday. The oil, plugs, wires, and wipers may see some money thrown their way. If Saturday is in the 20's, forget it.

2007 AURA XR
1994 SL2
Default Re: How many things are broken in your S and you have no desire to fix them?

Owned since August 1994:

OK, here we go:
- A-pillar trim loose on both sides (held on my one clip on driver side)
- Automatic seat belt stuck thankfully at fully engaged
- Driver's window regulator failure, makes grinding noise instead of opening or closing
- Very slow rear passenger window when going down or up.
- Headliner damage due to leaking sunroof, just glued it up this weekend.
- Torn leather driver's seat
- 1 blown bulb on the radio
- blown bulb around cigarette lighter
- missing air deflector and cracked air dam
- bad ground on passenger side fog lamp
- gear indicator stuck 1/2 between neutral and drive
- several scratches on the trunk lid and rear spoiler from resting laundry basket on it.
- fogged driver's side headlamp
- foam gasket on the cowl on passenger side (I guess it is for fresh air intake into the cabin)
- rust on rear door pan.

None.

I have seen a few "sad" S series running around. I always find myself asking myself as I look the car over, at what point the owner just stopped caring about the car.

1999 SW2
Default Re: How many things are broken in your S and you have no desire to fix them?

My list for my SW2:

One of the plastic wingnuts that holds down my spare has its threads stripped and won't screw back on, so the spare bounces around a bit.

The windshield has a big crack. If it goes all the way across, then I'll replace it.

There are small holes in the exhaust. I'll let it rot away before I replace it!

I probably should grease the hydraulic struts on my hatchback as it squeaks going over bumps, (car isn't wallowy, so I'm pretty sure its not the struts or anything and I just had the stabilizer links replaced) and sometimes sticks a little bit before you move it all the way up.

My seatbelt doesn't retract back right and I'm missing the little knob that keeps the buckle from falling down. Not to mention a little bit of wear on the passenger seat itself.

My SL2 just reached 103K and is mechanically sound. The only thing broken right now is the driver's front door handle grab that cracked off and now resides in my trunk. The driver seat is worn at the headrest. The front floormats need to be cleaned, if not replaced. Otherwise, there's little inside or out that a good detailing can't handle.

The copper contact in the trunk lid gets dirty or gummed up. I bet if you clean that real good once, your troubles will be over. Mine were. Otherwise you have a short somewhere which I agree can be hard to find.

I've owned my 1993 SL2 since November, 1992. Here is my list of things to fix that I just live with....

Crack in windshield
Missing the air deflector and associated fittings under front of engine compartment.
Faulty fuel guage (likely sending unit). I use trip odometer to track fuel.
rear door floor jams rusted through.
Trunk lid lock won't open with key.
Carpet is showing its age.
Front bumper and front fenders have cracks from getting dinged.
Rear defroster switch light is out.
Seatbelt guide is snapped.
Front dash plastic clips are history - dash rattles. I may use vecro strips.
Minute buzz feeling at times. I think the new exhaust needs alignment-it is touching underbody.
Rear door triangular fixed windows have rust on frame (I do have replacements for this!)

Paul.

My hood release is disconnected from the inside handle, been that way for 2 years now. I just tuck the cable up under the lower dash. I think of it as a cheap theft deterrent (as if the awsesome 100hp engine isnt enough of one!), thats about all though.

Most of my problems are small but I am starting a new job and I hope I can fix at least most of them..

97 SC2

upper motor mount needs to be changed causing the car to rattle like crazy - will be doing this soon
driver's door hinge is misaligned - shop did a crappy job changing it I'm bringing it back
drivers inside door handle is screwed (when I close it it pushes the lock button)
hood rattles like crazy on one side
muffler is shot - getting a new one
both clips on each side of the trim around the radio/climate control are broken
cracked driver's side fender
only half of my passenger taillight is lighting up
both foglights are filled with water and bulbs are dead
windshield cracked last week

93 SL2

Front leather seats are in rough shape but I added seat covers
maplights dont work
only one rear speaker works
OEM CD player only works when it feels like it
power locks only work when they feel like it
sunroof is very slow (might be normal but my tiburon's opens much faster)
passenger door panel is cracked - I have a spare one I need to have it painted
climate controle won't light up at night

Default Re: How many things are broken in your S and you have no desire to fix them?

Parent's SL2:

1. Some parts on the dash are dimmer than others (burned out lightbulb?) & dealer couldn't fix the problem

2. Ash tray in the back is all messed up, i.e., it doesn't close right and falls out sometimes

3. Kinda dirty on the inside but I never drive it so whatever...

My SL2:

1. Burning Oil...okay, so I guess I should fix that, but I'm lazy...however I have see what happens when you DON'T fix it, so I probly will eventually

2. Kinda dirty as well, but hey I'm on a schedule & broke here...

3. Probably needs new wipers...

4. Don't know when battery was put in...may be as old as the car itself...(1999)...

5. Don't know when clutch was put in but it doesn't slip, so I think I'm good for now....
