Most blades lose their effectiveness after 3 or 4 months.

Default Re: Very Frustrated With Wiper Blades

Following this thread, I went ahead and bought some Rain-X latitudes via Amazon. Once I skimmed the instructions, no problems putting them on, and they seem to work fine. Whoo!

I also recently installed Rain-X Latitude. Not bad, but not as great as I was expecting. As I posted earlier, I have been using Trico neoform wipers, and these are similar quality IMO.

The OEM blades are poor performers on all cars. I switched to PIAA silicon blades after 3 months on my VUE with great results.

I replaced the inserts in them after 4 years. They are expensive, but like most things in life, you get what you pay for...

I've tried Dollar Store blades, Walmart brand,(Anco?) Autozone brand, Michelin, Bosch, Valvaline, and generic winter blades. I haven't found any yet that last more than 5 months, and without scratching my window.

I'm in NY, the winter months are just brutal, and wish they made a blade that lasts!

The valvolines and Michelins were like $20 each, and still failed. Guess Rain-X is next try.

2007 AURA XR
Default Re: Very Frustrated With Wiper Blades

I've had Bosch ICON blades on my Aura XR for over 2 years now and they still work like they did the first day they were installed. They're year-round blades... no more "snow blades" with the rubber boot. They don't skip and still swipe clean with no streaks. They're expensive but worth it; as I said, mine are going on 2 years and still working great. I got mine at AutoZone; a friend of mine bought his at Advance.
