Default Supply/Return Flow for Sl1 Transmission Cooling Line

2001 SL1 auto Trans: I'm trying to find out if the Transmission cooling line on the upper drivers side is a supply or return line. Thanks in advance for the help.

The hot fluid leaving the transmission would be the upper pipe.
Just like the engine coolant hot is at the top, and after flowing through, gets cooled.

This is semantics. Hot fluid hits higher on the radiator, gets cooled somewhat and exits the radiator (oil cooer portion) via the lower pipe.

It really is a moot point. You already only see a slight film on the existing filter magnet, so who cares which pipe you put an extra filter on? You probably won't get much debris, unless something is going very bad inside the tranny.
