Default service light (wrench) CODES 1640 1641

I have narrowed down service light problem down to the cruise control

Just turned ignition key to ON to check these
LOW FUEL LIGHT OK
SERVICE LIGHT OK
LOW COOLANT LIGHT ... GAUGE IS OK
CRUISE CONTROL ... brake logic etc (through process of elimination)

It's possible it could be a short but if it is a component, what exact part would it be and where is it located ... 1999 Saturn SL1

I used a GM advanced scanner to get code. Mechanic scanned it for free.

REWARD EXCELLENCE!

Default Re: service light (wrench) CODES 1640 1641

P1640 and P1641 have almost nothing to do with cruise. I got the same codes after installing a remote starter. (As well as two that do actually have to do with cruise, but that's only because I forgot to plug the module back in.) P1640 and P1641 seem to be related to the ignition. Not sure why its called heater circuit, but they got tripped for me because I had swapped the accessory and the ignition wire when plugging them in to the starter module.

Maybe one of these possible causes is your problem? It does mention cruise as one of the "10 other reported fixes", but I'd look in to the other possible causes first.

The codes are related specifically to the quad driver module. Here is the info from the internet.

http://ultraviolet.im/saturn/1998_Sa...psdsubkey=3108

CODES 1640 1641

Both of these codes are directly related and point to a fault with the quad driver module. A quad driver module (QDM) is an electronic switch which completes a ground circuit when switched On.

DTC P1640 and/or P1641 will set if:
There is an open, short to ground or short to voltage on any of the QDM output circuits.
SERVICE telltale lamp circuit
Low coolant/hot telltale lamp circuit
Cruise clutch circuit

If you look at the diagram in above link, I could see you getting the codes with installing a remote starter

Those attachment images you provided seem to be related to repair records. Many have other associated codes.

Appreciate you very much for taking the time to reply

Maybe I need to ask which specific part is related to
1999 saturn sl1 cruise clutch circuit
