Default 2001 SL 1 Coolant Leak

Does anyone have a coolant system diagram for a 2001 (3rd Gen) SOHC?

I have developed a pretty nasty leak from the back side of the engine, and wanted to see what was back there before I tear into it. Appears to be somewhere center or driver side, and only occurs under full pressure.

Hoping for a relatively easy fix, as the Satty is my winter car, and I don't think the Camaro is going to happy if I have to drive it in February. :-)

You've got heater core lines and the line that connects to the intake manifold. The fitting on the intake is known to break, I've read.... thankfully mine has not.

I think the metal (aluminum?) pipe that connects to the surge tank runs back there too.

Diagram is generally the same for all years. For 3rd gens, back of engine, check to see where the line from the driver side of the black plastic intake attaches (follow the de-aeration line that runs along the top of the firewall).

The "nipple" in the plastic intake breaks; has to be cut off and replaced

Hmm, I just noticed you specified the SOHC engine.... I don't know if the SOHC has the same intake flaw, of the nipple breaking off.

One of innumerable observations made by OldNuc:

If one fills the cooling system (waterjacket) with a 50:50 mixture of antifreeze and (purified) water ... the system will Not really pressurize, because the mixture does not boil at the operating temperature. This really saves on seal wear, etc.

The finance weenies at GM seem to only have applied value engineering/plastic intake manifold to the DOHC and left the SOHC cooling system alone.
