Default Aura 3.6 p0420

Hello all, I have a 2009 3.6, 130k, that has a poorly performing rear cat. O2 sensors are all new, new gm plugs, no other codes. Downstream sensor is indicating poor cat performance. Anyway, been searching a while, and can't find a how to on replacement. The 3 bolts to the manifold look like a pain. Is it easier to pull the manifold? Any other hints?

You'd have to search a lot if you expect free info on a discontinued model that wasn't popular or sold in the millions. For exact replacement procedures, there are a few choices; service manuals, subscription to either Alldata.diy or Mitchell for online access to service manuals. If a member has manuals, copying and attaching files and drawings is another way. GM online parts will show drawings. Finding replacement parts may reveal what's left for oem if you search. EBay would have what GM dealers will try to unload as well as used parts. Tried rockauto for parts availability? Last would be a muffler shop and custom replacement of any part of the exhaust system while complying with your state's emissions policy (or not if your state doesn't require emissions inflection). With stainless pipes, good repair shops can replace catcons to retain piping by cutting and welding in parts.

consider inserting a spark plug non-fouler inline to the O2 sensor moving the sensor out of the exhaust stream-done this on dozens of cars over the years and it has always cured this annoying CEL for me-Not saying it is a permanent solution, but I have done this to vehicles and driven them for years without getting that code again (and never had any drivability issues, before or after this code). Moving the O2 sensor away from the stream will reduce the wave-variation in sensor reading so that the rear sensor is steady enough to convince the ECU that all is well. If you have or are getting a plugged cat all bets are off.

The parts are easy to find, and if you include the Malibu, there were many sold. Just odd I can't even find a quick YouTube on the replacement. I would prefer to fix the problem rather than cheat the system.
