Default Can a S-series hood fit in the back of a SW2?

Title of the thread pretty much states what I need to know.

I've got a dent in the hood of my '00 SW2. The junkyard has a good hood in the same color for $43. I don't know anyone with a truck.

Would this hood fit in the back of the SW2 if I angled it in there? I've tried measuring it and it seems like it will almost work, but want to be sure before I tried it.

Has anyone here done this?

And no, they won't let me swap the hoods in the parking lot, I already asked.

I doubt it. Maybe you can strap it to the top of the car, depending on the distance you have to travel.

Tie it to the roof for a 5-10min drive down the road, swap it in 10-15 minutes (30 if by yourself AND it's your first hood project), bring back the bad one

The hood may very well fit inside the hatch opening but I'd be VERY surprised if it fit between the strut tower...the space we have is taller than SL/SC's have but just as stupidly narrow.

Ok, so here is what you need to do! Get the hood, drive out of their parking lot to another parking lot. Then, change it out and bring your old hood back for scrap.

A hood is light, it takes two people to change it. One person holds it up while you unbolt it, then you both lift it off and voila.

Seriously, leave their parking lot and find another place a couple minutes way. There has got to be a place near by. You can also tie it down on the roof, I'm pretty sure it won't fit in the hatch.

Bring a thick packing blanket and put the new hood top side down on the blanket on the roof. Use 2 straps front and back and don't drive over 10mph. Follow previous instructions to swap. Take out the bolt closest to the front of the car on each side. Loosen each back one about 1/2 turn. Place a folded beach towel between the cowl and the center back of the hood. Lift hood and stow prop rod. Raise hood to near vertical and remove 1 bolt and then the other while holding it wit 1 hand in the center front. work both hands carefully to 1 on each side and lift up and off of car. Beware of wind.

To install set hood on the towel and get a bolt into each side, either hole first thing.

This is a 1 person job.

Do not hit or touch the lower edge of windshield. This is what the beach towel is for.

Yea man. I've got an 'o6 F250, 18' car trailer, dolly, and 5x9 utility trailer.

That's a nice yard for sure! The hood'll fit in your SW2 so you should be covered there...

Yes, the hood will fit. I had some front-end damage that needed repair and had crumpled the front of the hood. Tossed it into the back to take it to the repair shop. Just make sure to have a blanket or something to make sure it doesn't tear up your interior.

...
Thanks! David

Just to remove any remaining doubt, here's a picture of my new hood in the back of the wagon. It fit with room to spare. I got it yesterday at the junkyard for $50. It looks almost brand new.

These hoods are light enough (and I suppose that I'm tall enough) that I just tied a rope to the latch loop and carried it on my back out of the yard. I think I turned a few heads.

I was also able to remove and replace it without any assistance. The ends of the hood aren't very far from contacting the vehicle of the body, so I removed the bolts with the hood prop holding it up. Don't repeat what I did if you aren't confident you can balance the whole hood as you move it over the engine compartment.

I am quite pleased. No more peeling paint!

Curve of the hood almost looks like it was made to fit around the strut tower. Gotta love the "little SUV".
