Default Dtc u0120

2007 Green Line- " lost communication with starter/generator control module"
Car then ran on 12 volt battery until it was drained-
Would like to know if a possible cause would be that the 36 volt battery got too hot and the sensors caused the hybrid system to shut down.
If so, what would be the solution to regain hybrid function?
Does some unit need replacing or resetting?
Thank you in advance for any information.

I would take it to the dealer and have them troubleshoot the DTC
Please let us know the outcome

#07195: Customer Satisfaction - Battery Not Charging-Limited Drive Time - (Aug 24, 2007)
Subject: 07195 Battery Not Charging Limited Drive Time

Models: 2007 Saturn VUE Green Line

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ConditionOn certain 2007 Saturn VUE Green Line vehicles, when high resistance in the resolver circuit is detected, recharging of the 12-volt battery stops. If this occurs, the battery light or check engine light will be on, the charge assist gauge will not move, and hybrid operation (such as engine shutdown when stopped) is disabled. When the 12-volt battery is not being recharged, the vehicle can only be driven for approximately 20 to 60 minutes, depending on the electrical accessories being used, before the engine will stop running and potentially not restart. If the vehicle is turned off and then restarted when the condition is first observed, the system may reset and the battery warning light will go off. The vehicle will operate as intended; however, the condition may occur again the next time the ignition is turned on.

CorrectionRetailers are to add a wire harness and reprogram the engine control module (ECM) and transmission control module (TCM).

Vehicles InvolvedInvolved are certain 2007 Saturn VUE Green Line vehicles built within these VIN breakpoints:

#PIP4212B: Battery and SES Lights with DTC u0120 After 07195 Jumper Harness Installation - keywords07-06-03-004 BAS circuit communication crank hybrid lamp loss MIL no SGCM start starter wiring - (Sep 13, 2007)
Subject: Battery and SES Lights with DTC U0120 After 07195 Jumper Harness Installation

Models:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This PI was Superceded to Update Recommendation/Instruction, Please Discard PIP4212A.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:Shortly after having the SGCM Jumper Harness from 07195 installed for a P0A4B DTC, the vehicle may return with a SES Light and Battery Light due to a U0120 DTC.

Recommendation/Instructions:If this concern occurs, inspect the SGCM jumper harness to ensure that:

none of the C2 SGCM connector terminals are backed out from when it was originally plugged in. To do this, unplug the lower SGCM connector (C2), remove the clear connector face cover, and inspect all of the terminals to ensure that they are seated properly.
terminals 1, 3, 8, and 21 were properly transferred from the original C2 SGCM connector to the new C2 SGCM jumper harness connector as outlined in steps 3.7 - 3.11 of 07195. There have been instances where the wrong terminals were transferred to the wrong cavity. If necessary, refer to the C2 SGCM Connector End View found in Hybrid Controls Connector End Views in SI to ensure that terminals 1, 3, 8, and 21 were transferred to the correct cavities.
