Default OBD II to usb

I was wondering if anyone knows of a obd II to usb cable that would work for the majority of the odb 2 softwares out there. I was able to download some software but I need the usb wire. If anyone knows of any, let me know.

Question Re: OBD II to usb

Has anyone used this product before? And does anyone have any suggestions on software that would provide the most diagnostic information?

You need an interface like this one:

You cannot just plug a USB cable from a laptop to an OBD2 port.

Go to ebay.com and search for OBD2 USB - there are a lot of these cables there, most of them shipping from china or hong kong, so they're cheap, but they'll take some time to get to you. A couple of months ago there was someone in the US selling them; I bought one from the US seller for around $40 because I had a code I wanted to read without waiting a long time... I was happy with it.
