Default Rescue mission with JY valve body?

I flew 2000 miles to help out a dear friend with an 2002 SL1 in bad shape. It had what sounded like a bad VB on the phone, and the final straw was the starter failing - luckily in her garage! I mailed a JY VB and spare starter to her and installed the starter, and the car was lurching around like one with typical VB problems. I thought it was the solenoid, but decided to change the entire VB and then checked the new solenoids. They are all 4.7 ohms and the connectors look fine, both the harness and buss plate. I'm wondering if it makes sense to swap the pressure regulator solenoid with another one of her old ones - not the PR solenoid!. If so - which one? Her car has 171K miles - probably with the original VB. The "new" VB has unknown miles - it was from a 1999 SL2. I want to button up the transmission asap before dirt can get into it.

I want to do as little as possible while I'm away from my tools here, but want to prevent further damage. With luck, perhaps the input shaft nut is still tight enough for the short term. The plan is to put the car together again and then change the fluid and filter.

REWARD EXCELLENCE!

A loose input shaft nut will generate a P0732 code, loss of reverse, and slamming gears in forward.

Swap the VB out. Changing the Pressure regulator valve requires dismantling the VB, which is not for amateurs.

I don't think the OP was asking about changing the PR spool; the question was whether trying one of the old solenoids in place a of the new PR solenoid that didn't help is worthwhile. I think the answer is "no".

What would be worth doing is using a pressure gauge to check LP, and using live-data to check all else. Next up would be putting in a good VB that has both the main Sonnax upgrades. Going 2000 miles to heal a TAAT and not having tools to check LP and live-data seems futile to me; no excuses if those are not available. Likewise, throwing "junk" at it from a JY is always iffy.
