That's one quick Saturn! 11.037 seconds @ 129 MPH 1/4 mile time.

It is obviously not streetable, but cool nonetheless. I have to admit it looks pretty clean too.

That quarter mile time is .77 quicker than the fastest previously recorded 1/4 mile time for a Saturn according to the list over on Sixthspere. (sorry Low)

Can you please post a link to the fastest recorded times? That sounds really interesting but I couldn't find it myself.

Thanks!

damn wish I had been at speedworld that night. I've seen a few Saturns run out there but not often and they are street cars with more "normal" times.

That red station wagon he was racing against looked like a Chevy Vega

Either that or sometype of Cosworth Vega maybe?

I don't think the Cosworth Vega's were ever made in a Station wagon format.

Kind makes me regret not having the time to put into our car. Our little beast had 10 second potential with a little more tuning.

2NDSOUT- The reddish-orange car in the other lane is indeed a 71-73 Vega "Kammback" wagon, and obvious by it's low 11 second performance- V8 powered. Cosworth's weren't available until 1975, and never in a wagon body. A stock Cosworth(dual-cam & fuel injected) was light-years faster than a stock single cam, carbureted one, but in reality, no faster than a stock SC2.
I didn't know which car in the video to cheer for; on top of all the Saturns in my "fleet", I also own 3 Vegas(all with V8 power).

I learned something new In my study of older cars, I couldn't remember if the Vega came in wagon or not.

Not poking too much fun at you spencer...but you haven't had any of your Vega cars fall apart crossing railroad tracks have you?

I've read that the rust locations on them can literally cause them to "Split in Half"....

I don't have much room to give you crap....actually think it's cool that you have a couple of them. I can't really give you any crap about owning a Vega. I had an 87 Chevette for 4 years.

I also had an 81 Citation (DAMN! do I MISS that car!!!) V-6 Hatchback....granted it was 0-60 in 7 seconds as an automatic....the car was fast for what it was....

Nice vid. It looks like that car was done up right, not some hack job like others I have seen put together. Did you get a chance to talk to the owner and get any details of the car?

Just briefly, he was really very nice. I didn't get all the tech details other than its a 1.9 with a turbo and the trans was the stock trans that was in the car when he made it a race car. He was a Saturn tech since '95, and I'd agree the car looks like he knows what he's doing.

I asked him for details on the car for the video and he just said to put it was a turbo charged 1.9. So I dunno, maybe he has a few trade secrets...
