Default Rear sway bar link

Anyone ever just have one of these pop apart?

While attempting to change the rear brake drivers side, I noticed it was popped apart and has been for some time...

$48 part...

Think I can just pop it back in and call it a day?

What causes them to come apart?

I'd suggest replacing both of them. They get rusty and crusty over time. I had one seize on me and made the sway bar bind on one side. That made for interesting handling...

It's popped out because the ball joint is worn to the point that it won't stay in the socket. Yuh, pop it back in for good measure, but it won't stay; it's done. Common midlife crisis part. CarQuest supposedly has an aftermarket version for $35-ish (?), with zerk fittings on the ball joints.
