My 03 VUE's suspension problem & fix

For the longest time my 03 VUE with 79,000 miles has been developing a front end condition that is best described this way:

When there is any pavement imperfection that both sides of the VUE hit it feels like the front wheels are steering one direction and the steering wheel goes the other direction. Hitting small bumps also causes a clunking or creaking sound that is on whatever side of the front that has hit the bump.

I first thought it was the front struts going bad.

Today when it was at the dealer for the problem they did the following:

Replaced left and right front strut mounts, both were "broken".
Replaced left and right control arms.

After I picked up the VUE I immediately noticed the difference when I hit a small pothole. The VUE went straight with no suspension creaks or the steering wheel being bumped. I also drove the VUE on the same road that previoulsy made the VUE creak. There were no front end creaks!

What an improvement and all this time I thought it was the struts wearing out.

It looks like it would have cost me $487.

I have a 3rd party warranty that the service writer asked about when writing up the ticket. She verifed which warranty I had & coverage & deductible. I just had to pay the $100 deductible.
