Default New models

My wife's 1997 SW2 is getting tired (249,000 miles) and she is starting to look for a new car. She went to Saturn and was disappointed because they don't have any cars that get 40+ MPG. Does anyone know if they have future plans for a high mileage car? She realy likes her Saturn but because she does so much driving her number two priority is gas mileage. (Her first priority is dependability which her 1997 has given her) She doesn't want a hybred until they have been around for several years. She also doesn't want to go foreign.

I'd start looking for a low mileage late model S-series while they're still plentiful. Fuel economy was my number one concern when I bought my SL1. Honda Civics, Toyota Corrollas and Echos and Volkswagen TDIs are way more expensive than they should be and my wife forbid me to buy another Metro, so the choice was obvious.

Saturn has gone with a little more power in recent years, still get good gas milage but not quite as good. I would say for gas milage abd reliability go for a well maintained lower milage s-series.
