Default Saturn Performance Kits?

I was wondering if there are any kits that have a CAI, exhaust system, headers, and turbo charger by any chance? If not, are there any kits that contain a mixture of these? I would really like to save some money if that's possible to buy them in a kit, but if not I'll just buy my stuff without it. Thanks for the help!

If you get a turbo then all that is different than normal parts...

Different intake, exaust mani, and such.

If you want turbo, research that a lil more.
If you want the other stuff that is easier and cheaper, go that way.

I'm in the process of getting my CAI and exhaust system now, but how much would a good turbocharger run, b/c I can't really find any for saturns. What would be easier and cheaper than a turbo charger and the CAI and exhaust and such?

A turbo kit for sattys are around 2-3k last time I looked. The only setups Ive been looking at lately are custom.

I got a few sites...I will post them in a few minutes, gotta import my favorites list, and go to the bathroom.

Nothing would really be cheaper unless you made it. Im saying, its either the turbo kit, or the cai and such. The turbo kits come with the intake and beggining exaust stuff. Getting cat-back now would be fine cause thats gonna stay no matter.

Seeing as how you have a SOHC, I wouldnt worry about a turbo. Its kinda pointless. Get a DOHC first. Until then if you want go ahead with all the other small bolt ons.

You don't buy a turbo specifically for a saturn. You build a turbo system with your choice of turbo + lots of other parts. Sounds like you should stick with bolt on mods.

Thumbs Up

i say go with the straightforward not-so-major mods first. you will learn a ton along the way and get a lot of fun out of it, plus it will be easier on your wallet. once you have this foundation and have enjoyed driving it around for a while, you can then shoot for something bigger. thats the way hobbies tend to go.

for us saturn guys, that would be a dream come true to have something like that available in one tidy kit. especially one that's tested enough to be reliable and safe. unfortunately, our cars are not at the top of the list of sport compact tuner companies.

hey he asked for a kit. they offered a kit. they dynoed a bunch of parts together that made 21 hp over their baseline. no, I don't work for SPS but I've met them several times and they've been good to me.

True, but I think this guy wants something that will make his car fast.

Expensive bolt ons just delay the innevitable.

You can have a conveniently fast Sx2 w/ decent bolt ons. Even better if you are able to tune it w/ an SAFC. I'm sure he's not lookin to run 13's or 14's or anything.

Doing the absolute most you can do w/out opening up the engine in any way will be at most 20 bhp w/ out an SAFC. You might get up to 20+ whp w/ the tuning. I've heard of others doing it. All that can be done w/ a lot of money and time but not a significant amount of knowledge. You could probably do all that for $1000 or less. That includes, CAI, header, 2 1/4 exhaust w/ bigger flexpipe, no cat, racing muffler, the SAFC and a WBO2.
If you bought it all new at places like SPS, you would spend $2K+.
Get a used CAI for under $100.
Have someone port your TB for under $40.
Get a 92 header from the JY for less than $60. Get a full 2 1/4 exhaust at the muffler shop for >$300 w/ the flex-pipe. Even less if you get a moroso muffler online to be put in.
The SAFC can be had for under $200 and the WBO2 for $300 or less in most cases.

After that go for good tires and suspension setup and hit the track!
...
-96 SC2 gets 35 mpg mix city/hw.

a "for sale" sign is the first step to having a fast car when you already have a saturn...

But I don't need a fast car I know I can get a speeder for like $6k over here, but I want a Saturn because they look nicer than most of the crap cars in Arizona. Also, I like how they're made of plastic because I've already hit and been hit by a bit of people, and I haven't had to replace any bumpers yet . Could someone else confirm Sps SOHC's list of things to buy, and where can I go to find a used CAI? Thanks everybody for your help!

Check out his street car and his track car. Easily the best website for Saturns with thoughts on different products. By following what he did (and what sps_SOHC said) that will get you well on your way.

You don't need a WBO2 unless you are tuning the SAFC w/ a laptop and no dyno. Which is possible and very easy but not the absolute best way to do it.
Just datalog AFR a couple runs at WOT into the laptop and adjust the SAFC to get a better AFR. If you do it on a dyno you'll get a finer and more accurate tune for top hp. But some of us don't have a dyno nearby so we have to settle.

You dont use a laptop with an afc. And most pre built widebands that allow conrtol with a laptop are over 500$. The TE units are an exception, however, they are NOT pre-assembled. You must build them. Hope you can solder.

Id say it is. Saturns have been proven to like the lower 13:1 range for max power. So why re-invent the wheel and spend money you dont need to?

Lol, Id rather settle for a wideband than pay out the ass for dyno time.

We know what a stock internalled saturn engine likes as far as AFR goes. We know where to modify the powerband. Why entrust your money and your tune to a guy that knows jack balls about a LL0?
