Dizzy suspension problem

Help...I have a few questions about my 2001 L200:

-What is the bar that goes from the strut to the sway bar called?

(This bar is causing a clunking noise in my front suspension. My father took a strap and tightened the sway bar to the frame of the car and the noise went away)

-What needs to be replaced? Are there bushings or pins in this bar?

-Can these be easily replaced?

-Is this bar pressed into place and therefore needing a mechanic to replace the problem?

-I am very handy with cars, and would like to fix this problem on my own? I am just confused as to what is causing the noise?

Thanks

It is called the stabilizer link. Price should be around $30-$40. It has a ball joint at each end. 2 nuts hold it in place. 1 of the ball joints is worn.

Raise vehicle on hoist.
Remove wheel and tire assembly.
Remove stabilizer bar link to strut assembly bolt.
Remove stabilizer bar link to stabilizer bar bolt.
INSTALLATION

Install stabilizer link into vehicle.
Install stabilizer link to stabilizer bolt. Torque: 65 Nm (48 ft. lbs.)
Tighten stabilizer to strut assembly bolt. Torque: 65 Nm (48 ft. lbs.) NOTICE: Before installing wheels, remove rust or corrosion from wheel mounting surfaces and brake rotors. Failure to do so can cause wheel bolts to loosen in service.
Position wheel onto hub.
Install wheel bolts and tighten in a crisscross pattern. Repeat tightening pattern to make sure torque is correct. Torque: 125 Nm (92 ft. lbs.)
Lower vehicle from hoist.

You go lostwages!

You sound like a Chiltons Guide spewing this stuff out.

Anyway, what do you think would cause the stabilizer bar to become loose ?

How many miles on your car? Seems odd for an '01 to have that problem with less than 100k mi.
