Default Door Locks randomly working by themselves

2009 Aura - Bought car used 3 months ago. Both front door lock switches never worked. Key Fob does lock/unlock doors. 3 days ago locks started locking and unlocking by themselves - like 6 times in a row within 8 seconds. Then they stop. Then they do it 3 times. Even with car off, no key in ignition it will do it. So I disconnected the drivers side door switches - two connectors for windows and one for lock/unlock switch. Drove around and no problems. Reconnected the door lock switch - no problems. Reattached the window connectors... NO PROBLEM. Now they are all connected again and it has gone away. I read that water can cause problems with the lock switch. See photo - there was some rust on the metal plate the bezel attaches to. Anyway we will see if it continues to be solved with everything reconnected. Only thought is an intermittent connection on connector pins and disconnecting and reconnecting made a better connection..?

Excellent pictures! Nothing stands out but I would guess the main reason for gremlins playing with the door lock solenoids is the door lock switch. Its a 50/50 chance that simply disconnecting and reconnecting it made the problem go away. Think about it; this door lock/unlock switch isn't disabled by the ignition switch. Its directly wired to the bcm that controls the solenoids so this door lock/unlock switch is powered all the time. Test this yourself; leave the window open and stand outside and operate this switch without the ignition key. Sit inside and operate it, again, without the ignition key. Its wired directly to the bcm for use anytime. If its worn internally or a small plastic piece is broken, the electrical contacts may connect to give your doors the 'possessed' appearance.

the switches are poorly protected from water/humidity intrusion. the master switch's internal contacts are likely corroded. it's possible to pull it apart & correct it but life's too short. this could also be a harness issue in the door loom where it flexes with every door movement but i'd start with a new switch unless u can use a multimeter & schematic.

Thanks greenman and fdryer. What you say makes sense. Neither driver or passenger doorlocks work even though the possession is gone (even after 3 days of driving to work). So I will buy new switches and install them. I will also take the old ones apart and maybe see what has gone wrong. I figure if I don't it could start acting up again.

2007 Saturn Aura

Same problem here, car is stranded at a gas station now.

Right now, the whole system is possessed. Put key in ignition and a flurry of dash lights and buzzing as if I had a low battery situation happens. The door locks are trying to go up and down but it's happening so fast they don't even move, I can hear the solenoids working but they're getting signals so fast the doors locks don't even move, and the alarm light is flashing at lightning speed. I suspect the lock/unlock switch is the cause.

I have a fuse diagram. I would like to disable as many things as possible, security, door locks, anything to get this thing started.

Any ideas would be much appreciated?

Just to clarify the problem. My door locks became possessed after snow fell on the buttons one morning while clearing snow off the car. The lock/unlock button never worked after that and the random lock unlock eventually went away. This summer the problem came back. Lock the car at night, doors are unlocked in the morning, lol.

Again, any help would be appreciated.

Disconnected the lock/unlock button on the door panel, reconnected battery and I now have normal dash display. Security system seems normal. No security light, everything's normal.

Just buzzes when I try to start it though like a dead battery. Checked battery with a meter, 12.4, 12.6 With the meter on the battery my friend tried to start it and the meter went down to 8, 6 volts.

Tried jumping it battery to battery, same thing.

Bad battery? Security system locking me out?

That switch ruined my battery.

Bought a new battery, everything's fine.
