Attention 2003 L200 problem(s)

My car has recently been "jerking"on idle, sometimes constantly and sometimes not. I also got the P0304 code and i want to know if you'd possibly know the solution. For sure its not the spark plugs.

Another problem i have is my light inside the car on the roof just went out one day, so i thought maybe the bulb needed to be replaced. so when i did it still didn't work and when i checked the electric box everything looked fine.

And finally, my cruise control does not work. when i press the button the light goes on yet when i let go of the gas pedal it doesn't stay at the speed choice.

please help!

Default Re: 2003 L200 problem(s)

Welcome to Saturnfans!

Jerking may be from many things so this may take some more troubleshooting. As it is, P0304 means a misfire on cylinder #4. on the driver's side (cyl#1 on the passenger side). Being sure its not spark plugs then leaves the rest of the ignition system - the ignition control module or the ignition coil packs. The icm is the small finned aluminum box sitting inside the ignition coil pack that sits across the top of the engine covering all the spark plugs. Most issues here are with failures related to the icm and the coil pack last (as a fault).

There may be other issues to consider; the injector (that can be swapped with any other cylinder to test) and a compression test for a worn out engine.

Cruise control may not be allowed if the engine light is turned on and is not a priority fix compared to an intermittent jerking engine.

The dome light may be a loose connection in the dome assembly.

Some more history of this car would help; mileage, maintenance done, etc..
