Wrench steering stability problem 93 sl1 automatic

i have a problem with my car.

I named her "Sexy" because she is always ready to go when i am, goes as fast or as slow as i am in the mood for, and never finishes going until i get there too.

but lately she has developed a personality "Quirk". every time i ride over a bump, ride on an uneven road, hit a pothole, and occasionally when we hit a dip.... she will "Slide". usually toward the left. it "feels" like her front wheels are steering a different direction but i don't really feel a tug on the wheel.

I took her to my local mechanic and watched as the doctor probed and prodded her. Even had him drive her on a rough road with me.

i was relieved that it wasn't my imagination when he confirmed it's real and she is indeed getting flippant.

BUT He can find no problem with her.

he checked everything that he could see with his trusty flashlight.
poked something called Bushings and said they are good.
felt up rods, struts, and some other parts i know nothing about.
he even ran the wheels and checked for axel vibrations while it was on the rack.
balanced her and aligned her but she is still acting like she is on the bend.

I'm afraid it may be car menopause.

Please help our relationship- what may the doctor of over looked?

ps: drives fine on smooth surfaces and in smooth turns.

she is getting unsafe to drive.

Sexy being up there in age ('93 - women never tell their age) may have hip problems - her rack (steering) may have loosened up. Maybe her bra is loose (engine cradle)?

did he also check her ummmm "back side"? Bushings etc. on the rear trailing arms, lateral locating rod, struts?

Are all wheel nuts properly torqued?

Check the steering rack? Tie rods?

Don't know how/if mech ruled it out for sure, but my '93 did the same thing January this year. Thought is was the missmatch in the front and rear tires. Rears were much stiffer than the front.

Ended up being the rear left strut was bad, no dampening. Never leaked, just went away. Used strut from previous car fixed the problem.

Hope this helps,

Warren
