1995 SL2
Default New Guy Checking In.

Hey all, just giving a quick intro since I just registered today. I'm new to Saturns as I just picked one up yesterday as my winter/daily driver. Got a 95 SL2, no frills model (solely manual accessories, tape deck radio, etc). So far I think it's an awesome commuter vehicle. I lucked out and found a single owner car that was solely driven by an elder Jewish woman. 72K on the odometer and at $1600 I though it was a steal. I named her 'Abby' as she gets me from A-B (lol). I'll be popping in from time to time but as I am still familiarizing myself with this car, I may not be a huge contributer, heh. Again, nice to meet you all, this seems like a great place with tons of Saturn info.

-Mike

Welcome. Seems you made a great find. Personally I think the 95 was the best year for the SL models. Generation 1 body with a generation 2 interior. My wife still drives the 95 SL-2 we bought new.

Biggest think to keep in mind for this car is to keep the oil level up and change it often. The S series car has been out for a long time so there is not much about the car that hasn't been discussed and asked about here on this board. So if you have an issue, may I suggest you try the search function and then if you don't find it, don't hesitate to ask. Keep watching this forum and over time you will become familiar with the important issues effecting these cars and the proper care and feeding.

Again welcome.

Welcome to the forums. You might want to look around the forums for info about certains things...maybe go ahead and check/change the ECTS (just run a search for ECTS). Also, these cars burn oil sometimes, so you'll want to keep out an eye for that. And that's the only thing I'd worry about now, besides typical maintenance items.

If you're a car begging for your life, wouldn't you want someone to add fluids?

Thanks guys. LOL @ at the ECTS comment. That ironically is how I found this forum in the first place. I google'd around and discovered Wolfman's writeup of how to do it after suspecting the ECTS was on its way out. I have the part ready to go in tomorrow. Since the car was previously owned by an elderly woman, she wasn't 100% sure of what kind of maintenance was done when it went in for servicing and I figured to be safe I will do most of the basics and make an afternoon of it. Oil, plugs/wires, fuel filter, tranny drain/filter, air filter, PCV, etc etc. I did a parts store run today and my tab came out to about $175.00 (ouch).
