Default Coolant Temp Below Thermostat Regulating Temp

My Daughter has a 2002 L300 with 66000 miles, the car has never left So. Cal. . This winter we had a cold spell. The Sevice Engine Soon light came on, I checked the code and needed to replace the Engine Coolant Temp. sensor. The Sevice Engine light came on about six weeks later with the same code. Second time I replace the ECT sensor. A few days ago the Service Engine light came back on. This time I get a P0128 code telling me the Coolant Temp Below Thermostat Regulanting Temp. . Is it time for a new Thermostat or is it just the strange weather we are having in So. Cal. ?

Change the thermostat. Problem solved. It is not weather related.

The temp sensor you replaced never goes bad on your model.

Changing the thermostat yourself on your model is quite a job.

Good Luck!

IsaySaturn,

Thanks for the info. The thermostat can't be any harder than doing a tune-up on my PT Crusier. I've done all the work on it, from lowering it, to a few engine mods.

Thanks again,

runninpapa
