Wrench Changing the Oil Without Jack or Ramp

*Put some dirty clothes or clothes you don't care on.

First, put the key in and turn the wheel all the way to the left.

put an oil pan under your car.

Then, put use a 14mm wrench and take the drain plug off then let it drain. Turn the drain plug clock-wise to loosen it *you're upside down, remember?*

Now, take 4 of those plastic screw off *so that you can push the spash guard out of the way* by using a flat head screw driver to take of the center portion of the screw FIRST.

That white thing is your oil filter.

I use this oil filter wrench to get my filter off and then let the more oil drain out. *take the filter off SLOWLY to make a lesser oil mess! *Couter-clockwise to get the oil filter off.

Don't forget to put a layer of oil around that rubber seal!

Then, put the drain plug and oil filter back in and pour the oil. And clean up all the oil mess you made. After that, turn on the car for 10 seconds to check for leaks, then you're done.

*tips, have lots of old newspaper with you

Mine is red. Good job on the post-reply. Curbs and low sewer grates are a good bet, just watch not to drain the oil into the grate.

I cut my splash guard(s) for the front right wheel well so that it is easier and faster to get to the oil filter! I'll try to take a picture of that area on my SL2 at the next oil change.

If your S-Series has ABS then be careful around that sensor wire when moving the splash shields! :o:

Please don't use fram oil filter.
It has lesser filter area, glued cardborad base, problematic rubber anti-drainback valve seals, plastic bypass valves, etc.

Arg! I forgot about that promise and just changed the oil in my 1993 SL2 last weekend! I'll leave work early tomorrow, take a picture or two, and post them in this thread.

Make sure that the rear wheels are chocked. I find it scary just driving up the ramps! Probably I would be less nervous if my car had an automatic transmission.

yeah, see, I have an auto, and I sorta drove OVER the ramps the first time I tried, and they got stuck under my car and it was not pleasant. I managed to get one out from under the car using brute force (since im so manly) and then I put the free ramp under the side that was still stuck and drove up it to free up the other one.

blah blah blah it sucked.

but anyway, I got it right the second time only to find that I had no chokes and didn't really have any wood readily available, so I just took a few peeks under the car and then backed it back down.

...maybe next time will be more successful.

I'll second that......for that type of conduct clearly indicates that the person has absoutely not consideration for others, other than him/her self. It is a very revealing trait. It also reveals traits of insensitivity, diception, as well as possessing no creditility. Beware of this guy -- his actions reveal alot.......
