1998 SL2
Default My proud achievement

So I just wanted to share my little achievement. Not as much or as great as a lot that I've seen on here but it's mine.

My parents bought the Saturn I drive in 1998 brand new and I started driving it when I was 16 in 2005. It had maybe 60k on it. I didn't know much about cars at the time but over the years, and thanks to to great people on this forum, I've put a lot of work and time into her. She has a few quirks about her, and burns some oil but I recently just went to the beach 5 hours away and didn't have a single problem. I've hit 3 deer with this car, as well as a lot of adventures, and she's still going strong. I have no doubt she'll go for at least a few more years.

Thanks to so many people on this forum who have personally helped me as well as all the guides, tips, etc I've read.

Get an AR-15 in .450 Bushmaster.

It's remarkably effective on deer - and a whole lot safer than running them over...

How would you mount that on the car so it can be fired from the driver's side? Would it need to be concealed for safety? Is there such a thing as a remote for that type weapon? hummm?

Congrats on the quarter-million mark!

As to "guns on cars," there's a relevant XKCD What If:

https://what-if.xkcd.com/21/
(as always, put your mouse over the comics to see the Alt Text)

Quote:
The GAU-8 Avenger fires up to sixty one-pound bullets a second. It produces almost five tons of recoil force, which is crazy considering that it’s mounted in a type of plane (the A-10 “Warthog”) whose two engines produce only four tons of thrust each. If you put two of them in one aircraft, and fired both guns forward while opening up the throttle, the guns would win and you’d accelerate backward.

To put it another way: If I mounted a GAU-8 on my car, put the car in neutral, and started firing backward from a standstill, I would be breaking the interstate speed limit in less than three seconds.
