this is my 3rd post on here 342,017 still going strong. As all my friends cars keep dropping like flies. they don't any maintenance ie check oil, air in tires, etc they call me up. my cousin car was making a knocking sound check the dipstick no oil. Changed the oil only a qrt came out and holds 5. tires were in the mid teens and lowers 20s. some people shouldn't own cars if the can't take care of them.

YES! The actual term should be 'APPRECIATION' - because after 100,000* miles and beyond (172k) I have nothing but an ever building appreciation for my little green wagon.

My first 4 cars all had 5 digit odometers. 3 of the 4 rolled back to 00000, and one did it twice! The other one was sold at 68,000, and I don't know what its fate was.

2001 SL2
Default Re: S-Series Mileage Milestones 100k 150k 200k 250k and beyond

Just hit 250k miles tonight, original owner! I had the engine rebuilt at 210k miles due to low compression and oil use. The rebuild was badly done by the shop (they gave me all my money back), so I had a remanufactured engine put in at 228k by a different shop, which is ticking over just fine these days.

I had the original clutch replaced during the first rebuild at 210k miles, and it still had life in it, but it was a good time to replace it. I had the original radiator replaced at the second rebuild, again, not because it was failing, just because I could get it installed for free as part of the engine work.

I think the only things that failed outright were the alternator and starter, both at about the 200k mark, and also a tie rod end, but I forget when that happened. I replaced the struts (myself, yay, thanks to everyone here!) since I wanted a more comfortable ride, but other than that, nothing else really comes to mind. I'm sure there have probably been some more small items, but nothing to make me regret my choice of car.

I still love the old girl and hope for many more happy miles together!

...
.

2001 SL2 manual - original owner - remanufactured engine at 228k miles, December 2015
1992 SL1 - bought used in '93, totaled in '00 at 170k miles, drove it cross-country a lot!

So I just hit 225,000 km (139,808.5 miles) but my point total is still under 5 at best since I've only had the SL for three and a half years and put on 29,000 miles.

Compared with most of you, my baby is, well, a baby.
Up there in calendar years (officially 25 years old), but young at heart (only about 115,000 miles). Kind of like me.

So the milestone is:

25 years old!!!

I think it may be the oldest car in SaturnFans.

Going to be close to the oldest running daily. There may be a 91 still here but not an SC as it was not produced as a 91 model.

Keeping a car 25 years is remarkable in itself. I'm planning to donate mine some time later this year after I reach the moon (222K). Based on the point system we widely accepted here, you have:

25 years (25 points) and
115K miles (5.75 points) which is: 30.75 points. You're very high on the points list as well - I'm only at 26 points and will never catch you (unless I win the lottery and decide to piss money away by storing/restoring the car).

Congrats.

My 97 SW2 just hit 100,000 and runs great. I just keep thinking of the money saved over buying a newer car, although for a car nearly 20 years old it still looks pretty good

Yes, there was a '91 SC model. I test drove it around mid-1991. It felt a little rough, so I decided to wait for the '92. Glad I did.

mines at 242k right now. i was sad when i missed the odometric palindrome.
hopefully i'll push it 300,000. i've replaced the starter recently because oil leaked on it and shorted it. aside from that i've shoved a bunch of audio crap in it and tore out the old headliner; now its just bare roof

Haven't snapped an odometric palindrome 0n my '02 SC2 since the 266,662. On Feb 8th (2/8/2017) I happened to catch it at 282,017! How rare is that? Most recently snapped it at 285,285. Will be at 300,000 in early September.
