Backing Plate (a.k.a. Dust Shield) Needed?
I've got a '92 SL2. I'm replacing the hub assembly on the right rear wheel. The "Backing Plate" as Saturn calls it rotted away years ago.
I can't find a replacement anywhere. Any suggestions as to where to find a new one?
Do I need one? I'm worried about offsets between the rotor and caliper. Could I use four washers of similar thickness to dust shield as a substitute?
Any thoughts appreciated.

Pretty sure you don't need it or spacers, though now that I think about it spacers wouldn't be a bad idea.
Most of the posts I've read about the dust shield is from swapping to rear disks, so maybe look some of those up.
The proper way to fix a S-Series automatic is to replace it with a 5spd O:)
