2005 Vue 2.2 Auto - 97,xxx miles - Bought new - Major repairs none

I love Saturn cars they are built to last forever. I have owned 3. One not listed was a 2003 L200 Manual LOADED, but i totaled it when a BMW in front of me stopped in the middle of a round-about, i cried.

2005 VUE 3.5L
Default Re: How many miles?

My 03 3.0L V6 AWD made it to 298,480 miles last Friday. I was hoping for 300K but it developed a lot of crankcase pressure and blew the valve cover gaskets and a lot of oil all over. I think the PCV assembly was stuck and it's a bear to get at. So, I traded for a chili red 05 V6 AWD with 59K on it.
We went through all 4 wheel bearings in the first 80K, none since.
2 Timing belts and changed water pump and thermostat for maintenance.
Changed oil when the reminder came on, usually 9K. Added NONE between changes! Awesome motor!
Changed spark plugs at 216K and wasted my time and money. They were clean as new, only the gaps were enlarged. Gas mileage did not change, so there was no satisfaction for that job!
The alternator went to 220K and a garage rebuilt it for me.
Went through 3 sets of front brakes and this last time it got a new set of front brake hoses. (The old ones collapsed and would not release the pressure on the pads)
Gas mileage is around 24 to 27MPG. Usually 320 miles before the low fuel light went on. Cruise control makes a big difference.
This car was starting to be a legend as a lot of friends would always ask, "How many miles do you have on it now?"
I couldn't have asked for a better car than this!

2002 V6 (the infamous L81) AWD
125,000 miles. Bought new in mid 2002.

Just had the 100K maintenance done this week.

Aside from that there were all 4 wheel bearings before 80K, CPS, and the normal wear and tear parts.

Going for 200K which would be impressive, 300K would be incredible.

I have about 335,000 miles on my 05 Vue! One engine rebuild under the belt and on the third transmission (they don't rebuild these...). It has the 3.5 with AWD, has some ABS problems (bad right front sensor harness) and the cats need to be replaced, still love it though!

1997 SC1
I have a little over 377,000 KM (235,000 miles) on it
Only takes (burns) about 1 quart of oil every 2000 KM (1250 miles).... I always used Penzoil 5w30 in it - and oil change every 5000-7000 KM (3100-4300 miles) since I had it in 2000.
Goal before retirement is 500,000 KM..... and I'm sure it will still run fine.

'03 Vue, 4cyl, purchased new in Oct. '02 with 16 miles on the odometer. As of today, 123,000+ miles on the odometer. Original battery finally died a few months ago. Front wheel bearings replaced once each, A/C compressor replaced when it seized up a few years ago, and I'm on my third set of tires. Replaced brake pads a year ago and bypassed the horn switch when it burned up. Replaced the manual shifter cables a few years ago when I broke the little plastic clip on the stick. Warranty covered the first wheel bearing and the A/C compressor, so in 9 years my total expenses (other than routine maintenance) is only about $1,500 total. She runs like a champ to this day, and I imagine I'll get another 100k out of her. The only problem at the moment is that I can't shift directly into first gear for some reason (have to shift into second, then into first -- assume the gear synch is messed up somehow).

2003 V6 FWD with 203,000 miles and counting. my repairs;

- 4 wheel bearings.
- 2 water pumps.
- ignition coil & plugs (may have gotten ripped off).
- battery.
- rear cat (almost got ripped off).
- O2 sensor.
- A/C just crapped out. Troubleshooting now.
- muffler may need to be replaced. Going to wait for annual inspection.

Engine still feels very strong and does not burn oil. MPG is still between 20 & 25. Same as it was when purchased new. For all its quirks, I guess I can't complain.

That's impressive,

how much is a new transmission if you don't mind me asking?

That's awesome Denver - I have a 2004 with 105,000+ miles. Can you tell us fans what to expect based on your experience? Like the milegae when the 1st transmission went out and when the engine needed rebuilding?

Any other major things to expect- like the starter, alternator, radiator etc? Thanks for the sharing- truely inspirational for us Saturn Fans!

2003 AWD v6 bought in 2007 with 110 approx..have 160 now and have put a crank pickup, changed trans fluid(still takes itself out of gear sometimes just for a sec tho done that now for 50k+ miles), bypassed the oil cooler 50k ago and a battery last year..just changed timing belt wp and plugs that were all original! Other then recent body work because of stupid driver and other updates have not done anything but drive. Ive been lucky this gm has not fallen apart! Hopefully i can hit 300k. Next will be thermostat and valve cover gaskets but im in no hurry that thermostat has been stuck open for as long as i have owned it
