Default All 4 Rotors gone at 40,000KM?

Should this be covered under Warranty on a 2007 Aura XE?

The only thing my prevous car, a 2005 Toyota Matrix ever needed was front pads at 75,000KM

Im not a warranty expert and there are always exceptions, but I would guess they are not covered under the 3/36000 bumper to bumper. Brakes are not power train so not part of the 100000 mile warranty.

If you have warped them, in my opinion, you should bite the bullet and replace them all with drilled after market rotors. Good ones will ever warp.

It's a common problem on most cars... Especially GM vehicles. The parts are cheap. My opinion is to the same as Phaetons.

No need for concern in this area, there are hundreds of thousands of other vehicle owners that have had the same issue.

Brake rotors are awful on GM cars, and it's a 50-50 shot they'll get past the 36,000 mile / 50, 000 km warranty.

Unless you're hot-dogging it through a road course, they probably didn't warp from abuse, rather from a poor steel alloy that deteriorates via a combination of rusting, followed by uneven wear, followed by more rusting, that wears off unevenly. Every morning, for the first stop or two, I can hear the rust until it burnishes off to a clean surface. At the end of the day before driving home from work, I often see a fresh layer of rust on the rotor face visible through the wheel slots.

Bottom-line, if you have a heavy foot, it's your fault. Otherwise, its the crappy rotors GM buys from the cheapest suppliers in China ... if you're still under the basic warranty, don't let the dealer tell you otherwise ... have them reface them, or replace them if too thin to turn.

I just realized your post was for 40,000 KM not miles.
40,000 KM is about 27,000 miles I think so the rotors might be a warranty repair.

40k km is less than 25k miles so I'd say they should definitely be covered. I'd be very upset if mine weren't replaced for free and I'd been easy on them. On the flip side if you're a late and heavy braker then I'd say that's not unusual.

Thanks for all the responses guys

I should mention this was Canadian Tires opinion only so far.

The only symtoms that I noticed was a lack of braking power and harshness when stopping on steep inclines. so I assumed the pads were gone, I could understand that. There's no shaking even at high speeds when the brakes are applied

I've driven cars with warped rotors ala a 1999 Malibu and it doesn't feel anything like this.

Will go to the dealer this week and get another opinion.

This is interesting. I've gotten a report from the missus that there's brake squeal at roughly 20k. Given there's a bit of emergency braking. Is it really normal to have them start fading after so short a span of time?
