Default Seat Foam Interchangability

Hello all,
The front two seats on my 1995 Sl2 are getting saggy and the side parts are especially saggy. I saw a 1999 SC2 being parted out, and wanted to know if the seat bottoms are the same? They appear the same, with the square leading edge and high bolstering on the bottom.
If anybody has information on seat foam interchangeability, I am all ears.
Thanks,
Chris

Easier and faster to simply bolt the SC2 seats in. Verify the seat belt has the same size/style on the latch on both cars, '99 was the change over year and it's much easier to swap the seat mounted bit while the seats are out of the car.

The passenger seat would be a bit odd going from the SC2 to the SL2; the 4dr models don't have a slide-forward passenger seat while the 2dr & 3dr's do. You'd probably never notice, but its worth mentioning.

Other than the buckle the front seats are interchangeable '91-'02, though DOHC seats have a bit more side bolstering as well as adjustable head rests and adjustable lumbar support on the driver seat.

I may just pick the seats up and try it. I am looking to retain my original seat covers, as they are the way the car appeared back in the day (I am one of those interior must be stock freaks).
What do you mean by slide forward? The seat slides forwards and backwards on all of the S-Series that we have. Unless you mean the knob on the drivers left side where you can make it go up/down?

I think the seats from the coups move further than the wagon/sedan seats to make it easier to get into the back seats.

The seat contours of my '98 SC2 seem a lot different than my '99 SL2. I don't think the foam would swap.

The parts breakout for a 99 SC2 indicates that the seat foam was specific to the 97-2002 model year coupes (SC1 and SC2) and was not the same as the sedan. It does note that the passenger and drivers side uses the same part number. I imagine that is the case for the sedan as well. If you can find a Gen1 SL2 you can take the cushion from the passenger seat which will have less usage.

You can slide something firm between the foam and the support wires /springs to firm up the seat. You can also add additional foam, but use something high density / firm.

^ ^^ You don't actually need to remove the whole seat to do it, but I thought it was easier that way. If you undo the plastic J hooks, you can lift the seat cover enough to raise the foam bottom and slip stuff in.

trottida and I posted a series of pics showing the differences in the seat foam bottom, link below.

I can't speak for all year SC2s, but the coupe seats have a "notch" in the foam at the front corners and putting my SL2 cover over it left a saggy part in the corner - see pic 7

This. I used tempered hardboard trick noted by OldNuc. Works like a dream. Was having pain due to sagging and one broken wire. This fixed it all
up nicely.

I know the seats from a gen 2 sedan and coupe are not the same, but it seems like the bases of the gen 1 sedan are similar to the gen 2 coupes. I think I will just go for it, after I do my clutch this weekend. I will post some pictures either later tonight or tomorrow to support my hunch...
I do believe that it is definitely not identical but it may work.
