Default Abnormal shifting..(Automatic) 95 SL

Fellas,

I have noticed lately that when traveling around 30-40 mph the car would suddenly up shift. Once I get the car to 3000-3100 rpm it would shift right to o/d.
However, the car shifts flawlessly when merging into traffic and sustained highway speed. I have checked the transmission fluid level regularly with no apparent issues(burnt, discoloration).

Any suggestions why this is going on?

The car: A well maintained 95 sl 158,000...

r/,

John

Normal. The PCM sees no reason to leave the car at 3krpms when it can downshift and leave it at 2krpms even with the TC locked. It believes this will give you the best fuel economy, which is probably true.

Also tranny fluid and filter changes should be every 5th oil change
