Default replacing shift boot

my shift boot squeaks when I shift into second gear, and so I am replacing it.

How do I take off the current shift boot? How do I put the new shift boot on?

can I drive without a shift boot? I mean, is there any danger of things being screwed up?

You'll need to pull the console and the shift knob to get the shift boot off. It just snaps on to the shifter. However, I don't see how the shift boot itself could ever squeak. It's just some hide off a dead nawga. If you just pull the console, that'll give you enough access to lube the shifter workings and that's the only thing there that can squeak.

believe it or not, it's the shift boot. The material rubs against itself when I shift into second gear, and that is what is making the noise.

But is it ok to drive without the boot for a while?

You can drive with the console out, the shift knob off and the boot off, if you want. It's just a dust cover.
