Hey, I've been trying to breath new life into a 93 SL2 that has seen much better days. It had a plugged up exhaust which has now been fixed, new ECTS, new plugs and wires, and typical maintence (oil, filter, etc). I'm having random no-start situations and and while driving the tach will jump around, drop out, and then the car just dies. I replaced the CPS, as all things I have found have pointed to it being the problem. I do see spark between the plug wire towers. It is currently throwing a code 19, which I read at differentracing's site. Any ideas?

what book would that be?
The info I have is this: http://differentracing.com/tech_articles/dtc/19.html Could you elaborate on why it would be the knock sensor? I'd rather not run out and spend $50 on a new one, any way to verify it is indeed the knock sensor? |

Judging by what it says on out site, I'd go with the crank position sensor. A code 19 is a 6x signal fault and the CPS generates that signal.

yeah, as I said, I replaced the CPS, brand new one, still has the problem
is there an easy place I can sniff the CPS signal? it isn't that easy getting to the sensor with a meter... I think I'm going to remove the ignition coils and module and clean them up again |

So I did absolutely nothing but clear the codes, took it out for a spin tonight and it seemed to run fine! Just seems to be low on coolant...
